Life Changing Book

I have gone through this study as a “student” and a mentor several times. It literally changed my life. It is a difficult study to go through, in the fact that i will bring out a lot of junk that needs to be dealt with. That said, all of the pain was worth the healthy relationships I have on the other side of this study. It’s better to go through with a group of 2-3, with a leader. I suggest their website to find a group to meet with.

This text is a must-have if you have ever experienced abuse.

I especially enjoyed reading a text and its accompanying workbook … both having a Bible context for healing. Jesus is the healer and these texts emphasize HIS loving, healing powers.

Necessary step in an abused victims life

This workbook (and especially going through it in a small group setting) was used by God in my life immensely. I grew up in a neglected home where I did also experience other types of abuse but because it wasn’t as bad as “so-and-so” I tried really hard to just push it down and say that I was fine. Finally when I hit depression so that we had to leave the mission field I went through this and just felt so validated. The book talks about so many things that I would have never known how to describe for myself. While I was reading it was able to identify with almost all of it. Abuse is a very tricky subject and I think the enemy wants us to keep thinking that what we experienced “wasn’t really that bad”.It is also not focused on blaming parents or anyone else but looking into how we can respond and accept that God has allowed it in our lives. The beauty of it all is that God can use these ugly awful times to show His glory by bringing redemption and restoring our souls. The greatest thing I feel like God has taught me through this book and workbook is that I AM an important person who can contribute to society and lead a strong confident life. I can stop believing the lies that I am worthless and unloveable because God tells us in His word that He has created us in HIS image and He absolutely loves us and we are important to Him.The most important thing is taking that step to TALK about all you’ve gone through with safe people and this book guides you through that journey of sharing your story. As we talk through it all and acknowledge the sadness and pain and grieve what should have been, God allows our brains to process it all and come out on the other side walking more intimately with Him and living a more confident life for Him!
